BESC:AME Authorisation

BESC:AME Overview

The BESC:AME registration scheme is intended for all persons who will be required to carry out duties on or near operational plant and equipment in transmission and/or distribution electricity environments. It consists of an onsite assessment of how delegates work in the High Voltage environment.  The scheme standards are at a basic level and deal with entering, moving around and exiting work areas.

The scheme doesn’t include a training element, therefore persons undergoing assessment are expected to have received sufficient training from their company or training provider prior to assessment. As each company will have differing site specific requirements and work procedures a company site specific induction may also be required to familiarise persons with the local requirements.

BESC:AME assessments are available in the following areas of electrical transmission and distribution

  • Substations
  • Overhead Lines
  • Underground Cables

Location: Training and assessments can be carried out on any live operational Substation or Overhead Line site, access to the HV compound and a training room are to be organised by the requestor.

UK Power Networks BESC:AME is now the requirement for contractors to be awarded authorisation for substation entry. Please click the gold tab for more information.
